1. Aloe vera 

Aloe vera contains more than 75 nutrients, minerals and many herbal chemicals that prove to be a healing benefit for internal as well as external problems.

It is a great help for problems such as sunburn and rashes.

People living in dry areas are more prone to eczema. Dryness, itching are some of the prone symptoms of eczema.

How Aloe vera works;

The gel which is present in the aloe vera acts as a moisturizer in the burning or itching area which further provides relief itself.

Eczema proves to be full of disgust. This is often noticeable as small children often scratch the areas where they should apply ointment to the itchy area.

Procedure to Apply Aloe Vera

Get Aloe vera gel and cotton wool

  1. 1/3 cup of aloe vera
  2. ½ cup of coconut oil
  3. Few drops of any essential oil


1.Pour out aloe vera in a bowl properly

2. Add some coconut oil and few drops of any oil of your preference, preferable use lavender essential oil, that will not just hydrate your skin but also leave an aromatic smell.


3. Mix the contents well using a hand or electric whisker for at least 10 minutes or until the mixture is properly mixed


4. After the mixture is completely whipped, refrigerate the mixture by placing it in a glass bowl for about half an hour.


5.Take out your mixture and apply firmly to the affected areas.


6. Leave it on the skin for 15-20 minutes.

7. Wash it with warm water

  1. Coconut is known to have antibacterial and antifungal properties.
  2. Aloe vera, on the other hand, is anti-inflammatory in nature and is very effective in developing immunity against skin infections.
  3. It is a humectant which attracts water and helps in maintaining skin moisture.

Apply it to at least three times a week.

Preparation time: 45 min to 1 hour.

When to Apply: Before going to bed.

Honey serves different purposes, which includes its healing potential. Honey moisturizes the skin while preventing infections and speeding up healing. It is a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent.

Dab a little honey on the affected area.

2. Used externally, create a spray by mixing 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1/2 cup of water in a spray bottle.

Get a good quality moisturizer, particularly an ointment rather than a cream, and apply it on your child’s skin to prevent dryness. Look for ointments that do not contain artificial dyes and chemicals.

It is best to apply moisturizers and oils when the skin is still wet after a bath or shower to seal in the moisture.

2. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is another effective remedy for eczema, whether for a child or an adult. It has antifungal, antibacterial, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Coconut oil works as a good moisturizer to help prevent your child’s skin from drying out.

 Topical use:
Apply coconut oil directly on the affected skin several times a day to get relief from itching. Continue for as many days as needed until the symptoms are completely gone.
For consumption

Include 1 to 2 tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil to your child’s diet to help alleviate eczema symptoms and improve overall immunity. You can add it to your child’s food or drinks.

3. Wet to Dry Wraps

This method involves applying medication or moisturizer to damp skin, then layering with damp gauze and dry gauze. The wraps are left on for several hours or overnight and can help aggressively moisturize the skin and stop itching.

Home Treatment for children at home

1.Give your baby a bath just in lukewarm water. Don’t bathe him or her for more than ten minutes and never use hot water as it can clear the skin of its protective oils, thereby worsening the condition.


2. Don’t use scented soaps. Buy only natural and non-perfumed soaps for your baby’s sensitive skin. Never use anti-bacterial soaps, as certain bacteria are important for our skin and anti-bacterial soaps kill those bacteria, as well.

3.Avoid applying soap on the affected area. Rinse those areas with water instead.

4.Never rub a towel over baby’s skin. Just pat dry.

7.Make your child wear loose fitting cotton clothes that would not irritate the rashes. Always wash new clothes before making your baby wear them. The starch in the clothes could irritate the skin and cause the eczema rash to flare up or worsen.

8.Avoid too strong detergent to wash baby’s clothes.

9.Don’t overdress your baby or put too many blankets on him or her. Your baby should never feel sweaty and hot, as it can trigger the eczema.

10.Take your baby out in the sun for 10 to 15 minutes everyday. The sun’s UV rays help reduce the inflammation.

11.Drape your child’s affected skin in cool wet gauze for five minutes at least twice in a day.

12. Baking soda can be put into the bathwater. It is a natural treatment for eczema and can ease the discomfort.

13. Apply moisturizer containing extra water content on your baby’s skin. Don’t massage for long.

14.Sweating can increase eczema and hence, maintain a comfortable indoor temperature throughout the day.

15.Use a humidifier in your baby’s room. Not only will it keep the skin hydrated, thereby alleviating the itching and discomfort, it also will prevent build up of bacteria in the room.

16. Bubble bath can lead to dryness of the skin. Thus, never use bubble bath for your baby.

17.Use mild detergents formulated for sensitive skin to wash your baby’s clothes. Always give the clothes an additional rinse to remove all traces of the detergent.

18.There are some common food allergens that are known to trigger eczema. If you are breastfeeding your baby, avoid consuming cow’s milk, citrus fruits, chocolates, nuts, egg whites and other known allergens.

Always consult your pediatrician if you want to introduce new food into your baby’s diet. Keep a close eye on your baby for any kind of allergy due to a new food item.
