A woman, identified simply as Eberechi, has been burnt to death allegedly by her husband over a misunderstanding.
The tragic incident happened in their home at Ikorodu, Lagos State, according to Caro Omojevwe Kodo, a lady who claimed to be a friend of the deceased and posted a tribute note to her friend online.
The dispute according to Kodo, occurred when Eberechi (deceased) travelled home to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, over the death of her mother.
On returning to her husband’s house in Lagos, it was said she did not come back with all her luggage. When her husband confronted her over this action, it was reported that Eberechi explained to her husband that she left some of her belongings in Port Harcourt since she was to return there.
Her husband subsequently lost his temper, allegedly poured petrol on her and set her ablaze.
Eberechi and her husband were reportedly rushed to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, as the fire equally affected both individuals. Unfortunately, Eberechi lost her life one week after.
Paying tribute to her late friend, Kodo narrated how she met Eberechi at a market in Isolo area of Lagos where she went to buy food items.
Kodo described Eberechi’s husband as a jealous lover, who restricted Mrs Eberechi from using social media.

“He just wanted you alone to himself to the extent you can’t just pick calls anyhow, he must question who was that,” she wrote.
Kodo expressed grief towards the tragic passing of her friend and called the marriage a “toxic relationship”.
