His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo III, The Alake of Egbaland still remains the only paramount ruler in the Yoruba land with one wife.
Unlike many other titleholders, the Alake of Egbaland HRH Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo is married to only one woman, Olori Tokunbo Gbadebo, and they have been married for 48 years.
He is the only long-serving traditional ruler with one wife since he became the Alake of Egbaland.
Alake revealed some time ago in a wedding event in 2015, where he was the chairman of the occasion, he said he still share the same bed with his wife, the mother of his children.
Regardless of the fact that Alake the was a top ruler with many traditions and customs governing his life and behaviors, his bond with Olori Tokunbo Gbadebo is still very strong and has not halted the traditions and customs of the Yoruba land.
The Alake of Egbaland, who is currently 76, said his grandfather had 24 wives, while his own father had 3 wives but he decided that one wife was enough and despite the fact that he was a king.
Oba Gbadebo and Tokunbo have always shared the same room, same bed, and that is how it will remain till death do them apart says the monarch.
